Busy Weekend

11 Jul

We finally got back to ATX thanks to my sweet friend, Tracy. She was coming to Austin for a girls weekend and Missy Mack and I rode with her. Sadly, we were in her brand new Lexus SUV where Missy Mack promptly left shrapnel of all sorts in her car. Sorry, Trace. We stopped in West for lunch and kolaches and I ran into one of my students. Random!

Anyway, Missy Mack had a birthday party at the Little Buckaroo Ranch. This was a fabulous party! The birthday girl LOVES horses! Missy Mack got cowgirl dressed complete with boots and a old cell phone sticking out of her pocket.

When we arrived there were tractor rides and Cowboy Bob and Cowgirl Miriam had strict instructions for all the kids and parents complete with quick witted banter. They sang Old MacDonald with the stuffed animal the kids were given

We traveled up The Happy Trail to meet the animals. The kids got fish kisses, pet a rooster, a rabbit, visited the miniature horses in the Bachelor Pad and fed the goats.

They got to ride a horse and then Cowboy Bob roasted hot dogs on an open fire.

While we waited for hot dogs, this old VW blared cowboy songs.

The kids could hula hoop the steer and swing until the grub was ready.

Here is Missy Mack with the birthday cowgirl princess.

The details they thought of were just amazing and cute. Horseshoes to hold the plates down, giant cupcakes with cute horses, simple gift bags tied with a bandana and filled with a play horse, candy and card games.

Then I headed out to the girls weekend to the opposite side of the lake from where we live. It is less suburban out there and absolutely beautiful.

Now I am buried in laundry and exhausted.

Oh well, it’s summer.

    1. A kolache mention again? Really? Show off.

    2. I suck at throwing parties. Look at those cute cupcake toppers and then darling bandanas tied on the bags. Really pisses me off.

    3. Great post!
