Blanco, Texas Brought to you by Instagram

13 Jul

Today for Adventure Tuesday, we headed back to Blanco, Texas for floating on the river. We had to start our day by stopping at Target for a life preserver for Missy Mack because the one we had was for babies. Sadly, Missy Mack is NOT a baby anymore.

Once we arrived in Blanco, Mr. Mack and I had a great debate about going to the State Park part of the river or living on the wild side and pulling off the road and creating a spot for ourselves for free. After driving around, getting out, surveying our choices, we finally decided to play by the rules and pay the State Park fee, a whole whopping $8, and go for the groomed campgrounds.

All the pictures I took were taken on my iPhone 4 using the Instagram app. Fun stuff!

Here is the spot we picked:

We swam for awhile, and then headed to DQ (That’s what I like about Texxxas) for our picnic lunch. Meet Quackers, Snackers & Mackers, who basically attacked us during our picnic. I have never heard a goose make noises other than the usual quacking. These geese panted like dogs and were flicking their webbed feet like a charging bull because we would not share our meal (park rules forbid feeding and since we were being rule followers…)

After lunch, Missy Mack decided to attempt the climbing of this really cool tree.

Here she is in all her cheesy glory. I tell you, Missy Mack has become unable to smile normal in a photo, so we are left with strange grins with eyes that never look at you.

We headed to another part of the river. It was much deeper and did not have the limestone shelf that we stood on in our first spot. The day was beautiful. The weather was much cooler in the hill country and by the water. We floated, played games and sang songs in the water. Missy Mack was starting to get sunburned so we packed up and headed home. We made a failed trip to a lavender farm so that I could make some lavender lemonade, but other that than, this Adventure Tuesday was a success.

This is our cool girl on the way home.

Thank you instagram for making my shady pictures much more interesting.

Chatty has the same problem – not being able to smile normally for the camera! Looks like a wonderful adventure!
