Gingerbread Houses, Lights and Ice Skating

5 Jan

I have this love hate thing with gingerbread houses. While they are very cool, they take patience that no one in my house has and then there is too much candy left over. Therefore, I would rather just look at other people’s creations.

We took a voluntary field trip to the Four Seasons to see their chef’s rendition of Texas architecture. One of my classes studies architecture and we go on this cool architecture field trip around Austin and many of the places we visit, were reconstructed in gingerbread at the Four Seasons. Those that could, met us there to take a look and then head over to Cafe Crepe for a treat.

One cool part of this exhibit was there were QR codes to go with structure. When you scanned the QR code, it would give you information about the chef, their process in building, what they liked about the building and what materials they used.

Missy Mack’s Mimi (great grandmother) made her and Molly matching Christmas outfits so we took some party pics with the beautiful Four Season’s tree.

And finally, our treat:

Next up on the holiday express, lights. Missy Mack went on a fancy double date with Mommy, Daddy, our BFF and her husband and after, we treated her with our small town trail of lights. Little did we know these would be the only lights we would see this holiday season because it rained every night leading up to the holidays.

We also took Missy Mack ice skating for the first time. Some friends from school were meeting for a little ice skating adventure. She did so good. We were so proud. I was so worried that she would get on that ice, freak out and not even try. There was a lot of drama about the shoes, but she got on the ice. She was shaky at first, but she kept at it and was skating in the center like a pro, sort of.

Outings with girls look so sweet and relaxing…with boys…it’s literally like wrangling clowns. Sweet pics. 😉

Love Missy Mack’s pea coat – sooo cute!! I too have a love hate wih gingerbread houses, that’s why the plastic thing works so well. Not sure if you got my e-mail but the link is http://www.candycottage.us/. Not super cheap but I figure if I use it four times then it equates to buying one every year.
