The Monday of the last week of school, I took my students on the best field trip ever. At the end of our architecture unit, we take a tour around Austin looking at what sets Austin apart architecturally. We visited an architecture firm that does something really unique; every part of house design from construction, to lot design, to landscaping, to house design, to interior design all in one place. Each part of the team came in and talked to the kids. Then we headed to City Hall, which is one of the coolest buildings in town, on to St. Mary’s, the Capitol and the Driskill, where they told great ghost stories and a drive by of the Bremond block. We were all wiped out tired when we got back. I love going this time of year because everything is decorated for the holidays but this will make for a long week at school.
